1. PHÁT ÂM Cỏch làm bài tập chọn từ cú phần gạch chõn được phỏt õm khỏc so với cỏc từ cũn lại - Chọn đọc 3/4 từ cú trong cỏc đỏp ỏn A, B, C, D. Tuy nhiờn, khụng cần đọc lần lượt từ đỏp ỏn A đến D mà nờn chọn đọc những từ mỡnh chắc nhất về cỏch phỏt õm. - Sau mỗi từ được phỏt õm, cẩn thận ghi xuống õm của phần gạch chõn trong mỗi từ. - Chọn đỏp ỏn cú phần gạch được phỏt õm khỏc so với cỏc từ cũn lại. Vớ dụ 1: A. land /lổnd/ B. sandy /’sổndi/ C. many /’meni/ D. candy /’kổndi/ => Ta thấy phần gạch chõn của cỏc đỏp ỏn A, B, D được phỏt õm là /ổ/, đỏp ỏn C cú phần gạch chõn được phỏt õm là /e/. 3. TRỌNG ÂM Cỏc quy tắc đỏnh trọng õm 1. Trọng õm theo phiờn õm - Trọng õm khụng bao giờ rơi vào õm / ə / hoặc là õm /əʊ/. Nếu như trong một từ cú chứa cả hai loại õm là / ə / và /əʊ/ thỡ trọng õm rơi vào phần cú chứa õm /əʊ/.
