- GERUND I/ FORMS OF GERUND (DẠNG THỨC CỦA DANG ĐỘNG TỪ) 1/ Gerund: V-ing Ex: I like reading books. 2/ Perfect gerund (danh động từ hoàn thành): Having + PII Ex 1: She denied having broken the flower vase. Ex 2: He apologized for having made us wait so long. 3/ Passive gerund (Danh động từ bị động): Being + PII Ex: No one can avoid being influenced by advertisements. II/ FUCNTIONS OF GERUND (chức năng của danh động từ) 1/ Làm chủ ngữ: (Subject) Ex: Listening to music is my hobby. S 2/ Làm vị ngữ: Ex: My hobby is listening to music. 3/ Làm tân ngữ (Object): đứng sau một số động từ, giới từ. Ex 1: We are interested in reading comic books. Ex 2: We feel like reading comic books. 3.1. Sau một số động từ: a. Verb + V-ing: Suggest : đề nghị Miss : bỏ lỡ Spend : tiêu tốn, sử dụng Waste : lãng phí Postpone = Delay : trì hoãn Cancel : hủy bỏ Keep : tiếp tục Avoid : tránh Mind : phiền Mention : đề cập Quit : từ bỏ, ngừng Resist : phản kháng, ngăn lại Involve : có liên quan Discuss : thảo luận Report : báo cáo Risk : liều lĩnh Appreciate : cảm kích Admit (to) : thú nhận Recall : gợi lại Recollect : hồi tưởng lại Imagine : tưởng tượng 1

Sau một số cụm từ - can’t help (không thể tránh được) - can’t bear = can’t stand (không thể chịu đựng được) - can’t resist (không thể kìm chế được) - It is no good / It is no use / There’s no point in / It’s not worth (vô ích) - Would you mind + V-ing ? FORGET/ REMEMBER + TO V: FORGET/ REMEMBER + V-ing: Quên/ nhớ sẽ làm gì Quên/ nhớ đã làm gì Ex: Please, remember to do your homework. Ex: I don’t remember seeing him at the party last night. NEED + TO V: cần làm gì NEED + V-ing = NEED + to be + PPii: ai/ cái gì cần được làm Ex: You need to study harder. Ex: The windows need cleaning = The windows need to be cleaned. REGRET + TO V: tiếc sẽ phải làm gì (chưa REGRET + V-ing: tiếc đã làm việc gì (đã làm) làm) Ex: I regret to inform you there are no seats Ex: I regret buying such an expensive sport on the 12.30 flight. car.
